David leaves work early and comes home only to find his fiancee on the living room floor with another man. Throwing both of them out of the house, he succumbs to his migraine. Over time, he befriends his neighbors, Joyce and Marilyn, a committed couple. He feels secure with them and they take care of him through his dissolved engagement and a bout of the flu.
One evening, after having dinner together, Joyce invites him to skinny-dip in their shared pool, where she seduces him.
